ParaPro Assesment

The ParaPro Assessment is a general aptitude test that is required in many states for paraprofessional certification. It also offers school districts an objective assessment of your foundation of knowledge and skills.

To take the ParaProfessional Assessment Test (PPAT) and receive your certification, you have 2 options:

Option 1:
Register to take an in-person PPAT with LCEP- Lynn Community Enrichment Program, a night school for adults. LCEP has a monthly test day for ParaPro testing, the 2nd Saturday of the month. An additional testing day could be made available on Fridays for schools or educational districts, if there is sufficient interest. Also, special accommodations are available for those with health-related needs or impairments, which could be arranged 3 weeks prior to the test.

Important Note:
ParaPro tests will be available until late Spring 2023. ETS- Educational Testing Service, a private nonprofit educational testing and assessment organization conducting the ParaPro Test, will be making some operational changes. As of Dec. 18th, 2022 no further information is available from ETS, so we're contacting DESE- MA Dept. of Early & Secondary Eduction, for clarification.

To register to take a test, please fill out the application by selecting 'Application' 'ParaPro' from the left menu. See below for upcoming 2023 dates*

a. Saturday January 14th, 2023 9:30 AM
b. Saturday February 11th, 2023 9:30 AM
Saturday March 11th, 2023 9:30 AM
c. Saturday April 8th, 2023 9:30 AM

*If any of these dates don't work for you, please send an email to Michelle Guzman stating your situation and desirable date. LCEP will work with you case by case, but it will depend on logistics and capacity.

The cost to take the test at LCEP is $75. The test is $55, plus administrative and proctor fees. After your registration, you will receive information on how to pay for the test.

If you need to reschedule your test, a notification must be received by email to Michelle Guzman 4 days prior the test day. Otherwise, a fee of $35 will be charged. There is also a fee of $35 for no show, no call. LCEP reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the test day due to low test takers. A minimum of 2 test takers are needed. A cancellation notification will be sent if this is the case. Otherwise, the test will go as scheduled. Fees are nonrefundable.

Option 2:
Another option is to take the PPAT remotely from your own home administered and monitored by ProProctor®. Please read the requirements to see if you meet their requirements.

The cost for the At Home Test is $85. There is a fee of $42.50 to reschedule or change the date. All fees are nonrefundable.

PREPARING FOR THE TEST:
LCEP is currently working to create an in-person preparatory class to get you ready to pass the test or improve the possibilities to pass the test when you take it. We will make an announcement if this happens.

In the meantime, the Lynn Public School has a self-paced course online through Schoology with videos and training materials in the subjects of Reading, Writing and Math. If you're interested to access this online course, please fill out the 'ParaPro Registration' on the left menu and select 'Request access to self-paced online prep course' to receive access information.

Also, LCEP- Lynn Community Enrichment Program, is working with NSCC - North Shore Community College, to reactivate the ParaProfessional Associate's Degree here in Lynn.
