education is to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and
dispositions to become thoughtful and active participants in a
democratic society and a complex world.” (DESE).
The history and social studies educators take this purpose to heart, and
offer engaging, rigorous, and relevant courses that meet state
requirements, but that also engage students in real and meaningful
local, national, and global issues.
