Lynn Public Schools 2025-2026 Preschool Lottery Application
The Lynn Public Schools offers the following Preschool Programs:
Integrated Preschool Program
In accordance with Massachusetts General Law (603 CMR 28.00: Special Education), Lynn Public Schools offers a number of Integrated Preschool Programs designed for children both with and without special needs.
Each integrated classroom includes up to seven students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and up to eight typically developing peers. These classrooms are staffed by one licensed teacher and one paraprofessional. In addition, Lynn Public Schools provides intensive integrated classrooms for students with more significant needs. These classrooms are supported by one teacher and two to three paraprofessionals, depending on the needs of the students.
The primary goal of the Integrated Preschool Program is to foster inclusive learning environments where three- and four-year-old children with special needs learn alongside typically developing four-year-old peers, who serve as positive role models. The curriculum is play-based and hands-on, with a strong focus on language development and social interaction. This approach allows all students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally through guided instruction and peer modeling
Small Group Learning Preschool Program
In accordance with the Massachusetts General Law MGL (603 CMR 28.00: Special Education), the Lynn Public Schools has a number of small group learning preschool programs. These programs serve primarily or solely children with disabilities. We provide programs in which more than 50% of the children have disabilities and the class sizes are limited to nine students with one teacher and two to three paraprofessionals. These classrooms focus on individualized goals for each student and aim to provide inclusive opportunities throughout the day when appropriate.
General Education and Inclusion 4-year-old Pre-K Program
Lynn Public Schools also offers a 4-year-old program for students with and without IEPs. To be eligible for this program, children must be 4 years of age before September 1 of that school year. Children are placed in the program through a lottery process. Classroom sizes are limited to 15 students without IEPs and 5 students with IEPs and are staffed with one classroom teacher, one paraprofessional, and related service providers.
Dual Language Pre-k Program
In our dual language program, instruction is provided in two languages (Spanish and English). In Pre-k, 90% of the day is taught in Spanish and 10% of the day is taught in English. To be eligible for this program, children must speak Spanish and be 4 years of age by September 1 of that school year. Children are placed in the program through a lottery process. Classroom sizes are limited to 14 students without IEPs and 4 students with IEPs and staffed with one teacher, one paraprofessional and related services providers.
Preschool Partnership Programs
Through the Department of Early Education and Care’s Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative Grant, Lynn Public Schools has partnered with Leo Head Start, the Gregg House Preschool Program, Demakis YMCA, The REAL Program and Aspire Learning Center to expand access to affordable high quality preschool opportunities in the city of Lynn. Families can apply for this program through the Lynn Public Schools Preschool Lottery as well as contacting the programs directly. Students qualify if they meet the criteria outlined in the grant and are selected from the Lynn Public Schools Preschool Lottery waitlist. If the waitlist has been exhausted and we still have openings, we will open this opportunity up for children three years of age. This will also follow a lottery process.
