Middle School Music

• General Music Classes are offered at all of our Middle Schools, as part of the regular class schedule. Students build upon what they have learned in Elementary School, and embark on collaborative projects with their peers.

• Instrumental Music is a staple in the Middle School Music Education. Students who elect to study a Band or Orchestral String instrument will receive one weekly lesson during the school day, and participate in a once-weekly ensemble practice for their School Band or School Orchestra. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in the All-City Middle School Band, Orchestra, World Strings, and Jazz Band. The All-City Middle School Ensembles provide a unique opportunity for students to perform in a very large ensemble with their peers from across the school district. Performance opportunities include school-based Winter & Spring concerts, and the annual All-City Middle School & High School Concerts in the month of May.

• Chorus is offered at each of our Middle Schools. This is a program that experienced challenges during the COVID pandemic, and we are currently rebuilding. Students interested in joining Chorus should contact the Music Teachers at their school.
