Darchelle is a passionate young professional dedicated to supporting foreign students. Since 2012, she has been assisting students arriving from French and Creole speaking countries to integrate the American society and guide them through the educational system.

Darchelle graduated from Bay State College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she pursued a degree in B.S Management with healthcare concentration. Darchelle is planning to obtain her Master degree in legal studies in healthcare law, inequality, and international and community research studies. Darchelle began teaching at the Lynn Community Enrichment Program last year. Her curriculum focuses on helping students enhance their computer skills.

Aside from her full-time position as an Assistant Program Director at Centerboard, Darchelle again will be teaching the Haitian Computer Class this session. In her free time, she likes to travel with her family, explore new places, and learn about different cultures.

Darchelle is very passionate about helping everyone reach the American dream.

Jacquelyn Fitzhugh is a highly skilled potter with 5+ years of experience in creating unique, handcrafted ceramic art. Proficient in all aspects of pottery production, from wheel throwing to glazing and kiln firing. Adept at developing innovative designs while maintaining functionality and durability. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality pieces. Passionate about the art of pottery and continually seeking new techniques and inspiration to enhance artistic vision.

 As a potter, I am driven by my passion for color and the functionality of my pieces. Growing up in a military family and being of African American Gullah descent has greatly influenced my work. I draw inspiration from the diverse cultures I've encountered throughout my life. I strive to create pieces that are both beautiful and functional, and I believe that texture and color are essential elements of this.

My goal is to create pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also bring joy to the lives of those who use them. My work can be found in hundreds of households, and I am constantly pushing the boundaries of my artistic vision to create new and exciting pieces.

Your Pottery Instructor For Thursday Nights

Joy got her first taste of the clay bug thirty-five years ago at the old Mudflat Studios in Somerville. While living in Chicago, she studied at The Pot Shop, and after returning to her hometown of Lynn has been a consistent member of The Clay School for over ten years.

Experienced in both wheel throwing and hand-building, Joy gravitates toward functional objects and loves to experiment with various forms, materials, and surface treatments. She believes you can never have too many handmade mugs.

Come get dirty as we play with clay! In class you will be introduced to the basics of making forms using a variety of hand-building techniques. Have fun, experiment, and leave with items you can be proud of!

Michael A. Satterwhite, Esq is an Attorney and Real Estate Broker. Michael has been self-employed since 2006. Michael consults with businesses and law practices on case strategy and operations.

Michael has been an advocate most of his life and he hopes to improve the lives of many.

Michael is married to Andrea Satterwhite and they have three children. Michael enjoys writing lyrics, listening to music and acting.

Your Instructor For Computer Applications in Spanish

Michelle Guzman is a community organizer in Lynn, Personal Care Attendant (PCA), union member and likes to empower the community through education. During her time off,  she participates in meetings with non-profit and community organizations to be a voice, and to open opportunities for the Spanish-speaking community in Lynn.

With this, Michelle became a familiar face among organizations and a leader in the Latino community. As part of her credentials, she has two (2) Associates and a Certificate for Medical and Community Interpreter. from North Shore Community College, a Computer Application Certificate and other diverse training for personal and entrepreneur growth.

Michelle grew up in Guatemala, has a teenager son and takes care of her senior mom and sister. In the near future, she plans to continue her education and get a Certificate in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

Shanel Anderson is the Founder of Soul City, a yoga and fitness studio centered on the value of diversity and inclusion in the boutique fitness space.

With locations in Lynn and Malden, MA, Soul City is an energetic community whose mission is to dissolve and dismantle the Westernized image of who yoga is “for” by creating an environment that welcomes and sees the value in all people.

At Soul City, we believe that inclusive spaces for movement and fitness are key to total mind body wellness and a balanced community. Shanel credits mind-body balance and energetic resonance as the foundation of her success and strives to share the practices of meditation and movement with everyone.

Your Instructor For  English as a Second Language

Erin Frias has worked in the Lynn Public Schools teaching ESL since 1996. She graduated from Penn State University with a double major in Russian and German languages and spent several years living in St. Petersburg, Russia learning and practicing Russian.

Upon returning to the United States, she received her Master’s Degree in ESL from Simmons College in Boston. She speaks both Russian and Spanish fluently and has a working knowledge of Portuguese. She has a true passion for learning and teaching languages and aims to inspire her students to attain the highest levels of fluency possible.

Danissa Lopez is an abolitionist educator who has proudly served the public students and families of Massachusetts for seventeen years. She was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States at the age of five. This journey has led her to appreciate the experiences of immigrants who find themselves adjusting to new languages and cultures.

She has primarily worked as an early childhood teacher but has also held positions as a reading interventionist and instructional coach. She holds a Master’s in Elementary and Special Education from The University of Massachusetts Boston, a Master’s in Language and Literacy from Wheelock College and recently received a Bilingual Education endorsement in Spanish.
She is a licensed Reading Specialist and advocate for students with dyslexia.

She has been recognized by both the Boston Teachers Union and Latinos for Education for her commitment. She is a proud resident of  Lynn where she enjoys spending time with  her companion, Gerson, daughter Nathalia, son Alexander and their many pets. During her leisure, she enjoys reading, baking and exploring Lynn Woods.

Marina is a 500hr certified yoga teacher who has been joyfully teaching yoga for more than ten years to serve those needing its benefits for body and mind. Her intention in her classes is to inspire the community to experience yoga with a beginner’s mind where every new step can be an opportunity for learning and growth. Some of her last in-depth trainings and retreats were at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in the Berkshires, including the 5 Elements Yoga and Slow Yoga Retreat. Besides teaching yoga classes and workshops around the north shore, she loves to hike and ride her bike to explore the beauty of nature.

I have over 15 years experience working in both capacity as a school administrator and as a classroom teacher.
 
 I also possess over 35 years experience in case management, community activist and currently co-founder of the Hispanic American Community Association, HACA, a nonprofit organization that is an outreach organization for low income Lynn residents.
 
My forte is teaching and I’m looking forward to meeting my new students and watching them excel in Spanish

More than twenty five years of teaching experience in College Level and Secondary Education in USA, Mexico and Peru. Former Spanish Professor at Boston College and University of New Hampshire. Former Conversational Spanish Professor in Manchester and Nashua Community Colleges.

At Secondary level, she taught AP Spanish, Honor Spanish to every single grade in High School and Middle School. She loves to teach their students, not only Spanish, but also the importance of the youth to give back to their communities. This is why she founded Spanish National Honor Societies in Pembroke Academy, in NH; in Reading Memorial High School, Salem High School and now in Breed Middle Schools, in MA State. Actually, she made history in Lynn because the BMS Spanish National Junior Honor Society is the first ever in Lynn Public Schools.

Professor Torres-Rowe has been teaching English as Second language for more than fifteen years in different non-profit organizations in NH and MA; where she can be empathetic with their students because she also studied ESL before she came to the USA. This is why she encourages their students to master the four skills by perseverance.

Professor Torres-Rowe holds a Ph.D. in Community Economic Development, from Southern New Hampshire University, a Master Teaching Spanish from Rivier University, a Master Theology & Ministry from Boston College, a Master in Systems of Production from University of Mexico, a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural engineering from University National of Peru. She attended the “Project Zero- Multiple Intelligences Theory and Making Learning/ Thinking Visible” training at Harvard University, an important pedagogical tool for the teaching – learning processes.

Always I try to combine ‘service-learning’ with ‘community service’ because this is a way that enhances or benefits both the students and the community.

As a volunteer:
- Bilingual Religious Education Teacher, Youth Ministry Coordinator in Parishes of NH and MA since 1999.
